Novel Idea

Last night, as I was thinking of new things happening in my life, I had an interesting story idea. It’s all fiction of course, but most ideas come from real events, right? … Maybe not this one.

My husband is a Broker in a Real Estate office that his parents own, but he’s trying to help to improve for the current times. In their office, they’ve just barely broken into the new century. So we have a friend who just got her FL State Real Estate License (so happy for her!), and John asked her to be one of his agents.

As I’m thinking of the situation, and how we’ve known her and her husband for nearly 10 years now and our kids are friends, I start thinking, “I wonder if she’s read my book yet?” I gave it to her at Christmas, but if she hasn’t been able to read it… no big deal, I guess (*sobbing silently*). She’s been really busy studying.

What if John made people in the office read my book? What if he was one of those bosses?  And… what if my book was about something that wasn’t exactly professional, or even taboo?

What if the required reading for your new job with a stuffy boss was a racy, raunchy, heart-pounding, and taboo romance novel?

Hmmmm….  I grabbed my pen and paper and scribbled down the idea. In no time, I had my first chapter! This isn’t fantasy, or YA, or Romance, or anything I normally write.

It’s more-or-less a Sit-Com!

I think I’m going to keep going with my idea. Despite working on my second novel, this book can probably be finished and published in a few months. It will probably be more ‘relatable’ to a real-world audience that I would not have otherwise.

Would you read it? I’d love to see some comments with your thoughts!
